Una settimana di conferenza in inglese dedicata alla musica sacra

Questo è il nostro progetto centrale creato per gli amanti della musica liturgica. Vi invitiamo a partecipare a questa conferenza che durerà una settimana e tenderà luogo nel cuore dell’antica capitale della Polonia, la bellissima Cracovia. Riconoscendo la musica come un elemento vitale della liturgia, ci impegniamo a coltivarne le tradizioni e a esplorare nuove direzioni per il suo sviluppo organico.
E lo Spirito e la sposa dicono: «Vieni!» La Chiesa, sposa di Gesù Cristo, attende il Suo ritorno. Commossi dallo Spirito Santo, con i nostri cuori, le nostre menti e le nostre voci invochiamo: Vieni, Signore Gesù! Questo è il vero significato di ogni liturgia. In ogni relazione significativa e in ogni amicizia però soprattutto nel sacramento del matrimonio i cristiani desiderano sperimentare la forza della promessa di Cristo che quando siamo legati dal Suo amore, pregustiamo il paradiso qui sulla terra.
Lo Spirito e la sposa dicono: «Vieni!». E chi ode dica: «Vieni». (Apocalisse 22:17)
Il titolo dell’edizione di quest’anno, “Lo Spirito e la Sposa”, è tratto dal Libro dell’Apocalisse (Apocalisse 22:17) e guiderà la nostra riflessione musicale e teologica durante il Laboratorio di Musica Straordinaria 2024. Il nostro repertorio sarà incentrato sui temi del Santo Matrimonio, dello Spirito Santo e della Chiesa.
Inoltre, ogni giorno ascolteremo discorsi sulla teologia liturgica dati dal P. Innocent Smith, OP, musicista ed esperto di storia della liturgia. Con 400 cantanti, sette giorni di canto gregoriano e bizantino, polifonia antica e contemporanea, il tutto si svolgerà tra le mura gotiche del priorato domenicano di Cracovia. Saranno presenti frati domenicani e un corpo docente eccezionale proveniente da Stati Uniti, Germania, Polonia e Ucraina.

I spontaneously signed up for this workshop after hearing about it from Dominican friends and I am so pleased I did: it was enriching, mentally, spiritually and musically. I want to say a big ‘Thank You!’ to Fr. Lukasz and team for their heroic work in the preparation and execution of this week, for it surely required tremendous effort from many people. However, as we know, it’s team-work to get into Heaven and in this regard, it was a great joy to be united in prayer and song with so many other good souls – surely a foretaste of Heaven!

The program offered in English is incorporated into a larger Polish-language event, attended annually by over 300 people. This creates a unique opportunity to raise your heart and voice with what may be the largest choir you have ever sung in, but more importantly it gives a sense of unity of the Church gathered to worship from so many places around the world. Donkey the Coffee Truck
Participants of last year’s Extraordinary Music Workshops probably cannot imagine our event without the Osiołek (Donkey) – a unique multimedia coffee truck in the monastery garden, provided by YoungTree Foundation. We are very happy that it will accompany us this year and we can’t wait for our first cup of aromatic coffee!
